"The federal role in education is not to serve the system. It is to serve the children."

The No Child Left Behind Act
of 2001 (NCLBA) enacts some of the most sweeping changes to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) since its inception, and represents the most significant expansion of the federal role in K-12 education since Congress mandated access to education for all handicapped children in 1975.
