Title I in EBR

Improving the Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged

The stated purpose of Title I is to "ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and State academic assessments." Louisiana has developed a comprehensive set of standards by which districts measure what students should know and be able to do, and an assessment system to determine to what extent Louisiana students have met these standards. The East Baton Rouge School System will continue to provide its students the highest quality education as we implement the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
